Student Nurses Association of Pennsylvania

There are many ways to get involved at the state level through SNAPS. SNAPS attends the annual state convention held in November every year. This past November (20202), SNAPS attended the convention in Harrisburg, PA, with 45 students representing our organization. We were able to have 12 members be a part of the House of Delegates and had four students run for positions on the state board. We presented and passed our second resolution titled, “Promoting the Implementation of Produce Prescriptions for Low-Income Patients to Combat Obesity-Related Diseases.” SNAPS won the award for best newsletter. Member Chinaza Nwokolo was awarded the Mt. Nittany scholarship. In 2018, SNAPS presented and passed our first resolution at the state level titled “In Support of Increasing Awareness of Mental Health Disorders Co-occurring with Drug Abuse.” In 2020, SNAPS presented and passed our resolution, “Promoting the Implementation of Produce Prescriptions for Low-Income Patients to Combat Obesity-Related Disease.”  In 2021 we presented and passed the resolution “Increasing Education and Awareness Regarding Postpartum Depression in Rural Areas“. You can join our legislative committee to work on resolutions similar to these to present at the state and national levels. You can also run for a position on the State board.  Two SNAPS members, Alyssa Tygh, and Hannah Lochan are currently serving on the state board, and Julia Chan is the Central Nominations and Elections Chair. Reach out to any of these members if you want to get involved!

SNAPS Representation on the SNAP Board

Kieran Cook, SNAP South-Central Regional Coordinator

My name is Kieran Cook and I currently serve on the Pennsylvania State Board of Student Nurses as the South-Central Regional Coordinator. My position allows me to be a liaison between the SNAP board of directors and a multitude of schools in our region. I remain in touch with all of the presidents and help them to attend state and national events, remain NSNA constituents as well as provide information that might be of interest to all of the schools. If you have any questions about the state board or convention, feel free to reach out to me!
